WebAssign gives you a number of options to promote academic honesty and limit student cheating opportunities with secure testing. The WebAssign LockDown Browser, available through our partnership with Respondus, prevents students from doing anything on the computer other than work on an exam. Once an assessment starts, students are locked into the full-screen testing environment until they submit the assignment for grading. During the entire testing period, students are prevented from accessing instant message, email, the Internet, other WebAssign assignments, and other applications or files.
Additional Safeguards
For optimal security, we recommend a few additional safeguards.
- Create a password for the quiz or test
- Set a time limit for completion so students will not have time to get offline help
- Use IP restriction settings to limit which computers can be used (e.g., in a computer lab, on campus, etc.)
- Proctor the test
