Publishing and e-learning industry leader to guide growth and development of innovative online homework service

Raleigh, N.C., January 18, 2008 - WebAssign, the leading service provider for online, math-science homework and quizzing delivery in higher education, announced that Susan K. Badger, CEO of Thomson Higher Education, is joining the company's advisory board. Badger, a highly regarded senior publishing executive and e-learning strategist, with more than 20 years of experience leading marquee publishers, is being tapped to strengthen the company's market position and to guide its long-term strategy.

Research

Research shows that online assessment improves student learning without sacrificing efficacy, accuracy, or judgment in the teaching process.

For example, John C. Dutton and colleagues compared results of online and traditional sections of a course, and find "firm evidence that successful completion of WebAssign questions is a good predictor of success in a course." ("WebAssign: A Better Homework Delivery Tool," The Technology Source, 2001.)

Since 2000, WebAssign has hosted an annual
WebAssign User's Group meeting in North Carolina.
