Instructors and students can easily keep in touch using WebAssign's robust communication tools. All messages are handled within WebAssign, but both students and instructors can choose to have an email sent whenever a communication item is received.

Announcements: Instructors can post alerts that students see on their WebAssign homepage. Announcements can be distributed to multiple class sections at once, and instructors can specify the dates for both posting and removing the alert.

Extensions: Grant extensions to one student or the whole class with a click of the mouse. Instructors can also activate automatic extensions and specify the duration of the extension, the number of auto-extensions allowed, and any grading penalty desired. Students apply for extensions using buttons provided at the top and bottom of each assignment.

Message Forum: When enabled, students can use WebAssign to discuss an assignment with their peers. This tool allows students to learn together as they explain concepts and pose questions to one another. Instructors can also add to the discussion.

Ask Your Teacher: This powerful feature allows students to contact instructors with questions about a specific assignment. Instructors can then access the student's assignment, including a complete record of responses and the correct answer, to easily assess the problem and provide appropriate guidance.

Private Messages: Students and instructors can exchange messages within WebAssign without having to keep track of email addresses. Instructors can email a single student, a group of students, or the entire class, and students can email their instructor, with just a click of the mouse.
